PBS Profile

Introducing PBS, a new uniform keycap profile designed by Matt3o and brought to you by CannonKeys and Keyreative.

About the profile

PBS, short for "Penguin Belly Slide", is a uniform keycap profile- every row has the same height.

PBS uses a combination of a cylindrical front and back with a spherical top scoop. The result is a wide scooped contact area at the top, which enables a comfy and ergonomic typing experience.

Ill never use another profile on an ergo split ever again

I really like this profile. For gaming, it makes it easy to tell where my finger is resting before I press down and the scoop keeps my finger from sliding off. For example, if im holding shift with my left pinky and spamming two different buttons with my index and ring fingers, sometimes my pinky would slide off of shift and release it momentarily. the scoop keeps things grounded and stable. For typing, the scoop completely eliminates accidentally pressing two keys at once, like pressing down in between them and activating them both. Also, the addition of the convex keys is such a game changer. Not only are they just so much better feeling for thumb clusters (your thumb DOES hit the keys from a different angle and has a different shape after all) but I have some extras from the solid black PBS set and was able to use them in places where I would occasionally have ambiguous finger placement moments. Since the key is just a completely different shape, it makes it really easy to feel your way into the right spot. If youve ever put your hand down and started typing one spot off from normal youll know what I mean. They also are quite deep which provides a solid acoustic profile for the sound of your switches, many thinner/shorter profiles like xda, xvx, etc, can have a very shallow and crappy sound profile. My only real complaint is that the height difference of the end of the stem and the bottom edge of the cap is quite large, meaning they overhang farther than other caps when sitting on the same switches. This means they hang down too far and dont work for choc v2 or GLP switches, youll bang down into the switch if you bottom out and it will get stuck in the down position occasionally. On regular mx switches though thats a completely non-issue and they work great, if anything the lower overhang is likely a large contributor to the great sound these caps provide. Ive already bought two full sets and will absolutely buy a third when/if a shinethru RGB version is ever released.
