One of the best linear switches I have tried (1st place Alpacas V2), and these switches were prelubed very well, I have been using these for my office keyboard and no need for modding to me.
I can't say these are the most flashy or craziest switches but they are a standard that you can't go wrong with. The factory lubing is okay but I did take the time to go back through and lube the switches. They seem to break in fairly quickly which is nice. All and all it's a solid product, maybe a little on the high end of the cost side of cost, but you're not going to be disappointed.
I started off with the Mekanisk Ultramarine V2 Linear Switch for my brutal 60 build. They're a beautiful looking and sounding switch but the stem wobble was insane. So I ditched those for the Oil King and the difference was night and day. With the Mekankisk if felt like I was typing on an ice skating rink because my fingers kept sliding all over the place because of the wobble. But the Oil Kings fixed that issue in a decisive way. I'm debating on buying another set of Oil Kings for another build I've been thinking about. The Oil Kings exceeded my expectations. Smooth, no wobble so no real need to film and no need to lube. Just an excellent switch.
If you're looking for a good factory lubed option, look no further.
The gat oil king maintains the - now classic - gat crispy and thock sound profile while providing a great travel and virtually no scratches.
The spring weight is also great for folks that suffer from finger fatigue.
The only linear I got used besides the oil kings where the nk silks... that said, since the oil kings are a tiny bit heavier than the silks yellows, and with great factory lube, they take the lead.
