Our version of the Bakeneko60 features a few key changes from kkatano's original design: We closed the bottom holes, added cutouts to the plate (to allow for assembly removal), and modified the case to be made using a casting process. We also designed our own PCBs (hotswap & solder) with multiple layout support.

Just add keycaps and switches for a complete build! Our Build Guide will help you build this kit from start to finish. For added comfort, pair your Bakeneko with a wooden wrist rest.

Budget Price, Endgame Feel

Originally designed by kkatano, the Bakeneko60 is an open-source keyboard featuring an o-ring gasket. An o-ring between the plate and PCB provides friction to hold the plate/PCB assembly in the one-piece case. Cutouts on the PCB allow the o-ring to rest on the mounting points built into the case. The result is a bouncy typing feel with a great sound profile

Ideal 60%

My first custom mechanical. Just a delight to use. Got mine with the Haimu Silents and it's very nice and quiet while still having some pleasing "thunk" (rather than "thock") to it. The pearl white finish with some white keys gives a very clean look.

My priority was a 60% as I find having the mouse closer on the right reduces strain on my shoulder. Being able to program things to a nicety with VIA means I can set up modifier keys to be arrow keys when tapped, as well as making left control into an escape key, so I keep the back-tick and tilde key at the upper left. Without that I'd have to go to 75% as I need escape and backtick easily accessible for programming. Additionally I've programmed Mac and Windows layouts to let me switch easily.

And, no joke, I type significantly faster than with my Magic Keyboard. Overall a great first keyboard and possibly last! (Though, let's be real, the rabbithole is bottomless . . . )

Best keeb I currently have

Probably the best feeling and sounding keyboard I could own for this price range. The o-ring system makes it bouncy and very fun to type on.

Best entry level custom keyboard

The Bakeneko60 have become one of my favorite keyboard including the Bakeneko65 easy to assemble great quality and one of the best entry level. I have recommended this keyboard to many of my friends that don't want to break the bank on a keyboard. I currently own two of this keyboard and looking forward to add more to my collection in different colors. Also I changed the color on my black keyboard
