Bakeneko65

Our version of the Bakeneko65 features a few key changes from kkatano's original design: We closed the bottom holes, and added cutouts to the plate for easy removal. We also designed our own hotswap & solder PCBs to enable the support of multiple layouts.

Just add keycaps and switches for a complete build! Our Build Guide will help you build this kit from start to finish. For added comfort, pair your Bakeneko with a wooden wrist rest.

Budget Price, Endgame Feel

Originally designed by kkatano, the Bakeneko65 is an open-source keyboard featuring an o-ring gasket. An o-ring between the plate and PCB provides friction to hold the plate/PCB assembly in the one-piece case. Cutouts on the PCB allow the o-ring to rest on the mounting points built into the case. The result is a bouncy typing feel with a great sound profile

Quality Disclaimer

The is a board aimed to stay within a budget, and maintain affordability. It's fully aluminum and anodized beautifully, but to achieve this price point, the quality bar is lower than some of our more "premium line" boards, such as the Satisfaction75 and Chimera65. Customers have been happy with the quality of the Brutal-line boards, but we like to communicate this prior to purchase.

In general, large defects to visible faces will make a board B stock. But minor issues, small issues that are only visible in just the right angle of lighting, or small dents or blemishes on the bottom of the case that are not visible when the keyboard is fully built and on the desk will not cause a B stock evaluation.

Keyboard cases that ship with keyboards are meant to protect keyboards during shipping. These keyboard cases are made to order to fit the keyboard precisely, and are limited in quantity. As such, we do not replace keyboard cases if the keyboard case arrives damaged. Ideally, no keyboard carrying case arrives damaged, but at times, couriers are rough with packages and damages can occur. In these instances, we offer customers a $5 coupon off their next order as compensation.

We use photos of our products in hand when possible to show how they look in realistic situations. Sometimes the product might look different within the same listing- this is generally caused by different lighting conditions. When possible, we try to use different lighting conditions to show what the product might look like in different scenarios.

Less can truly be more!

I used a Bakeneko65 CNC for a commission build and it came out amazing!

I purchased a B-stock kit and despite not knowing what to expect, it was - to my eyes at least - practically flawless, and the anodized finish was spotless. Clean corners and chamfers everywhere, no dents or scratches even inside the case. A very pleasant and inoffensive touch with no frills or unnecessary shapes. Perfect for the customer's need for simplicity and minimalism.

The O-ring mount is super simple to install and gives a solid gasket mount feel with a slight bit of bounce, just enough to make it softer than bottoming out against a wall, even with medium tactile switches. I didn't use the included stabilizers, so I can't comment on their quality, but I'm sure with the right amount of tuning, lubing and maybe modding they would definitely be up to the task. The PCB was easily recognized in VIA and everything was a breeze to install and customize, making for a very beginner-friendly build - at a beginner-friendly price.

I find that while the zinc weight adds a little extra solid feel to the keyboard, it adds some harsh resonance even with silent switches. Leaving the case empty unsurprisingly made it sound too hollow, so I'd recommend using the silicone weight or, in my case, just a couple of sheets of PE foam inside the case for the best possible sound profile with this kit. All in all, I was very satisfied with the experience of building and typing on the Bakeneko65 CNC and would easily recommend it to beginners, people trying out the hobby, or even people looking for a simple but solid option without all the extra frills.

I used CK's NicePBT November fog to complete the build and it was a beautiful compliment to the silver frame, with a bit of added colour but a simple enough look, interesting novelties and a coherent theme. I'll leave a review on those as well after they've seen a little more use, but so far they seem good quality as well.

Exceeds my Expectations

I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised by this keyboard's performance. The key switches and keycaps I selected were the perfect match. I achieved my personal best typing speed.

The build was surprisingly easy. This keyboard offers a premium experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to build their keyboard!

Great Gummy O ring

I love my Bakeneko65, my first time with a O ring and it's super easy to put together!! It sound amazing with minimal modding needed. Just don't use **** in PCB stabilizer because the O ring will not fit in the board properly

Bakeneko 65 CNC

Very easy to put together and just such an amazing board over all. When plugging in the jst cable and pcb, make sure the pcb is switched to the right mode. When first testing my pcb I didnt switch it from render mode to its regular mode and those the pcb was shocked.
